Recap - ASMS 2025

We were co-authors on multiple presentations at the annual American Society for Mass Spectrometry meeting, held this year in Baltimore.

Another year, another ASMS meeting! The Aspect Analytics team is proud to be co-authors on a number of oral and poster presentations at this year’s conference. 

Matthew Briggs from University of Wollongong presented “Spatially Mapping Lipid sn-Isomers in the Mouse Brain by Ozone-Induced Dissociation in the HCD region of an Orbitrap Fusions” in the “Imaging Instrumentation & Method Development” WOFpm oral session, and WIlliam Hardesty from GSK spoke in the “Imaging: Spatially Resolved Omics (Honoring Richard Caprioli)” ThOCpm session on “Investigation of Localised Tissue Immune Response to Intramuscular Drug Treatment with a Mass Spectrometry Imaging-based Spatial Multi-Omics Approach”. Both of these talks are available for view to registrants to ASMS 2025. 

Aspect Analytics were co-authors on the following ASMS posters:

 “Quantitative Spatial Profiling of Gangliosides Across Human and Murine Brain Tissues

Weave was used to conduct differential analyses which  identified distinct ganglioside expression patterns between grey and white matter in cortical and midbrain regions. Additionally, registration of mouse brain data with the Mouse Brain Atlas from the Allen Institute enabled detailed quantitative mapping of gangliosides across smaller brain subregions and at lipid species level.

Aspect Analytics COO Nico Verbeeck presented this poster which showcases how Weave supports large scale, high throughput mass spectrometry imaging studies. This work is a collaboration with the team from Boehringer Ingelheim, who used Weave to collaboratively analyze, visualize and integrate MSI data histology in a cohort study targeting hashtag#neurotransmitter response to drug treatment.

In addition, Manita Shakya from University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) presented poster ThP 524, “Characterization of lipid droplet population dynamics in normal aging and Alzheimer's disease mouse models” in the “Neuroscience and Neurodegenerative Disease Research II” session. This study demonstrates a differential distribution, composition, and cellular association of lipid droplets in the hippocampus. This poster is available for registrants to ASMS 2025.
